Lithium nitrate - LiNO3.3H2O - 99 % - 100 g

Synonyms: lithium nitrate trihydrate

Appearance and odour: white, clear, slightly moist crystalline lumps without appreciable odour. Hygroscopic.

Grade: 99 %

Packaging: professional wide necked, white HDPE bottle with blue conical seal cap and tamper ring. Labelled. Bottle and cap are UN approved and reusable.

Description and uses: an important, highly water soluble (about 90 g/100 ml at RT) inorganic lithium compound.

Using a flame test it reveals the strong carmine (red) emission line of lithium and the salt is therefore used for red colouring of flares and fireworks.

Thermal decomposition leads to lithium oxide (Li2O, a white solid) being formed.
